Last time I posted anything was in October 2012, partly due to poor internet connection and a limited amount of bites. So here's and update of whats happened since October 2012.

November 2012 through January 30th 2013 we were at Lake Kissimmee State Park in Florida as Volunteers. This was our second year volunteering here and we just love this State Park. Here are a couple of photos from our winter.

February 2013 through March 2013 we were volunteers at Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine, Florida. This was the first time all winter that we were cold...it was a very cold March. Here are couple of photos:

April 2013 we were in Carroll County, Maryland...close to our 7 children and 11 grandchildren. We watched softball games and Tball games; we had a turkey dinner and a family reunion; and we even got to see our oldest granddaughter as the star in her school play "Beauty and the Beast".

May 2013 through June 6, 2013 - We are now at our workamping job in eastern Pennsylvania. We are still close enough to our family that we will be able to visit through the summer. We are all set to return to Lake Kissimmee in the Fall of 2013...but until our 12th grandchild is born...she is due to arrive late September or early October. It has been a great year!

On our way

We just arrived at our overnight stop in North Carolina. We have a lovely lake view from our front door.
We accidentally left behind a couple of our things at Cape Henlopen which were in a tub. Our skillet and hose for air compressor. Cooking will be by microwave until we can get a new skillet, and, fortunately the tires were all pumped up with air before we left! Beautiful weather for traveling! Tomorrow we head out early in the morning and will probably be staying overnight somewhere in Georgia.

Cape May Lewes Ferry

One of the nicest attractions around here is the Cape May Lewes Ferry which runs from Cape Henlopen, Delaware to Cape May, New Jersey. It is about an 85 minute ride from one Cape to the other and it has quite a few daily runs so you can spend some time in Cape May and return in the evening. When we can Wayne and I ride our bikes to the Ferry and have lunch on the dock while watching the passengers board and unload the Ferry. We hope to take a trip ourselves before we leave. There also has been another ship docked at Lewes this summer that has been available for shorter rides.
When we took our bike ride to the Ferry last week this ship was no longer there. I guess some pirates came and took it away!

Two More Weeks

We have just two more weeks as Camp Hosts here at Cape Henlopen State Park in Delaware. We will then be heading to Florida, and just in time as night time temperatures are staring to dip. I don't want to hang around to see "frost on the pumpkin".
I have really enjoyed our time here at Cape Henlopen. Beautiful beaches, a great campground and a bike path that leads to so many of the beautiful views in the park. We will be the only camp hosts left here come Monday as everyone has moved on to new places. We will be busy as there are still quite a few campers coming and going as this is such a great area with its resort attractions and outlets of Rehoboth.
We hope to get one more day on the beach, weather permitting, and a few more bike rides in before we head south. Maybe I can get a handle on this blogging thing and start writing more regularly.

Saturday, September 22, 2012

It has been quite a while since I have posted but I am so inspired by "Travels with Emma" and "RVSue" that I am going to attempt to keep things updated more frequently. After taking care of some family issues we are presently Camp Hosts at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, Delaware. We will be here until mid October when we head to Lake Kissimmee State Park in Lake Wales, Florida. This will be our second year at Lake Kissimme and we are really looking forward to returning to this beautiful park with its nature surroundings and wonderful park rangers who we worked with last year. Where we are now is full of nature and beauty, history and the ocean.
You can definitely feel the change in the weather...cooler mornings and less humidity. I suppose we will be good and ready to return to Florida come mid October.

Visit with Grandchildren

We had a wonderful time with three of our grandchildren, and I miss them already. We are now preparing to leave Ocean View, Delaware and head towards Hagerstown, Maryland where we will be work campers for the next seven months. We are excited and looking forward to our new venture, and also, we will be much closer to all of our children and grandchildren.

Wayne and I moved into our 2011 Nomad in May 2011. We spent the next two months living at Assateague Island National Seashore where Wayne was Camp Host and I finished my work with a local law office.
June 30, 2011 we moved onto Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where we worked for 5 weeks at the KOA.
August 4, 2011 we headed to Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine, Florida. All the while, since June 1st, this has been one of the hottest summers on record. While volunteering at Anastasia hurricane Irene was due to hit the area. We were fortunate though, as Irene took a turn away from Florida and hit east coast above us pretty bad.
September 19, 2011 we headed to Fort Wilderness Campground at Walt Disney World. This was our planned vacation as it had been six years since any real vacation. We were well aware our fulltime workamping lifestyle is not a perma vacation as we had already spent a lot of time and attention to planing our travels and workamping positions. One of our daughters, Beth, and granddaughter, Kiley, joined us at Walt Disney World. Kiley is a princess fan, being a princess herself, and especially loves Belle. What joy I felt when Kiley got to meet Belle in person.
October 4, 2011 we arrived at our four month volunteer position with Lake Kissimmee State Park in Lake Wales, Florida. What a great place and we thoroughly enjoyed the campground, wildlife and Park Rangers! We plan to return next Fall.
January 30, 2012 we said goodbye to Lake Kissimmee and headed to Lakeland, Florida to visit some of our favorite spots before heading back north.
It is now March 7th and we head back north in a week. It has been a great experience and a good start for our first year. We will be working at a campground in Maryland for a while. It will be great to be close to all our kids and grandkids again.
